6 v 6 Counter-Attacking Game

Set Up

  • N/A
  • 40 x 20 yards (or as desired to suit match day formation)
  • 6 v 6
  • Footballs, cones, bibs, mini goals

Objectives

  • Improve combination play and finishing in the final third.
  • Improve team's ability to attack with a numbers advantage.
  • Improve movement and support.

Details

  • Goals can only be scored beyond the scoring line
  • Coach with a supply of balls at halfway line
  • The pink team start with the ball and try to score in either of the blue team’s goals - they must pass the scoring line first
  • If the pink team score, the coach plays a ball to the other 3 pinks to attack the 3 blues
  • If the blue team win the ball back or the pink team play the ball out, the player who made the mistake must run around the opposition goal and the blues attack with a 3 v 2 (if the ball has gone out of play, the coach feeds a ball to the blue team)
